Dan Graham – Architecture 2

Lecture date: 1997-04-22

From his early language-based conceptual pieces to video installations, performances and his more recent architectural pavilions, Dan Graham has investigated the art work as a site of social meaning, questioning the understanding of art as a form of experience isolated from other forms of human activity. As is particularly evident in his video and architectural projects, Graham pushes the spectator into the role of active participant and ultimate subject of his work.

This lecture marks the launch of a series of AA events, in collaboration with the Camden Arts Centre’s Architecture 1, focusing on his work. As part of this series of events the AA has commissioned a new artwork from Graham – a pergola, sited on the first floor terrace as part of the AA’s 150th Anniversary Celebrations.
