Cecil Balmond is one of the world’s leading building design engineers. His interest in the overlap between science and art informs the perception of engineering promoted through his work: an interpretation of the relationship between architecture and engineering that has resulted in several prestigious and award-winning projects.

As a key figure in Ove Arup & Partners, Balmond has recently worked with Alvaro Siza on the Portuguese National Pavilion and with Rem Koolhaas in Bordeaux and Lille. He is also engaged on projects with Enric Miralles, Ben van Berkel, and has established a close collaboration with Daniel Libeskind.
