New York, United States, 2016-09-27 –

Architizer, the world’s largest platform for architecture, announces the official opening of the 5th Annual Architizer A+Awards

The Architizer A+Awards is the largest awards program in the world dedicated to honoring the year’s best Architecture, Spaces, and Products. The A+Awards are judged by a jury academy featuring prestigious members of the architecture community, as well as luminaries from industries like technology, fashion, and art.

In collaboration with its official partners, The Webby Awards, The Wall Street Journal, and Phaidon, the Architizer A+Awards received over 400,000 public votes for 5,000 entries from 100 countries.

In addition to jurors like Cynthia Rowley (Founder, Cynthia Rowley), Neil Blumenthal (Founder, Warby Parker), and Bjarke Ingels (Principal, BIG), we are pleased to welcome new jury members this year including Jane Chu (Chairman, National Endowment for the Arts), Robin Chase (Founder, Zipcar), and Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy (Academy Award-winning Documentarian). The Awards are also judged by the public, with the goal of them being to “break architecture out of the echo chamber” (Marc Kushner, Architizer Founder and CEO).

New to this year’s categories are 21 awards that highlight new technologies and design innovation. These categories include Apps & Digital Tools, which will recognize the new way architects and manufacturers develop their work, and Co-Working Spaces, recognizing how architecture and design play a vital role in the evolution of the modern workspace. See the full list of categories here.

The Architizer A+Awards gala is the most highly sought after ticket of NYCxDesign week. In 2016, 500 winners, jurors, and VIPs gathered at Highline Stages in Chelsea to celebrate the year’s winners (see photos from the event here). The gala for the 5th Annual Architizer A+ Awards will be held on May 11, 2017 in Manhattan.
