Alberto Kalach in Mexico City

Alberto Kalach [Principal T.A.X. / Taller de Arquitectura X] discusses his architectural work including the Biblioteca de México and its role in the everyday life of residents of Mexico City as well as an early project for the Faro de Oriente community center and workshops. Kalach also talks about the planning of the urban territory as an architectural issue and the relationship between green spaces and architecture in the urban context. Alberto Kalach is an architect working in Mexico City. His concern about the emerging problems of the vast city is reflected very often in his work: from the $5,000.00 USD minimal house, to his housing developments or to the largest project ever conceived for the Valley of Mexico Basin called México Ciudad Futura (Return to the city of Lakes), that embraces the city as a whole, studied through its geography. Thinker, builder, preserver, Alberto Kalach and his youthful lab – T.A.X.-have forged their place in contemporary architecture by creating spaces that celebrate the creative process itself.
