‘The architectural problem presents itself as the need to satisfy the demands of distribution, environment, site, construction, etc., but the designer would be unable to decide on a distributive scheme unless he already had a certain ideal configuration in his mind. This is the constant against which possible solutions are measured. The design process would seem to be more dialectical than deductive.’ Alan Colquhoun and John Miller attempt to demonstrate some of the objectives of their work through a discussion of several key projects.
Colquhoun and Miller established their partnership in 1961. Both architects studied and taught at the AA.
