Claude Bouchard, “De l’art à l’étoffe”
Montreal, Canada, 2010-04-15 –
At the Montreal International Interior Design Show, multidisciplinary artist Claude Bouchard invites you to discover selected pieces of her project “De l’art à l’étoffe”. Claude’s Umbrella Dresses, applauded at Montreal Fashion Week, are featured here. The artist recuperates unusable umbrellas. These light-hearted, ingeniously-concocted dresses are stand-outs at cocktail parties, gala evenings, and other events. At the SIDIM, the artist also presents her coordinated sets of Wrinkled Tablecloths and Napkins―an elegant, original way to adorn a table on various social occasions.
Claude Bouchard has maintained a rhythm of prolific artistic production in the last few years. She first became known for her collection of stuffed toys based on children’s drawings. This invention is only the tip iceberg, however, among her sculptures in fabric modelled on clothing, pastel drawings and watercolour paintings, designs of handbags, and original fashion creations. A visit to the artist’s studio is the ideal way to take in the breadth of her work and the philosophy inspiring the project “De l’art à l’étoffe”.
Claude Bouchard will be showcasing her creations at stand # T-80 / T-81 of the SIDIM
