What does it mean to build shelter on one of Victoria’s most weathered coastlines? Along the Great Ocean Road in Fairhaven, LTD Architectural Design Studio conceived a home that responds first to wind, salt and exposure, rather than simply turning toward the view.
Low in profile and geological in character, the house sits quietly within its sloping site. Spaces are carefully oriented to provide varied outlooks without overexposure, balancing openness with retreat and offering protection from the elements year-round.
Wrapped in UniCote Lux Corten Red steel and complemented by timber that will weather in place, the home reads as a durable outer shell. Within, DOOD Studio shaped an interior that feels calm, warm and connected, a protected place inside a powerful landscape.
