Antón García-Abril is a European Ph.D., Architect, and MIT Professor. In 2009 he received the Spanish Academy Research Prize in Rome. In 2000 he established ENSAMBLE STUDIO where he leads a team in search of architectural application for conceptual and structural experimentation. He writes about architecture for El Mundo newspaper and has been part of important prize juries including the BBVA Foundation’s “Frontiers of Knowledge Prize” in 2009. Ensamble has received important prizes including in 2009 The Rice Design Alliance Prize to emerging architects, 2005 Architectural Record Design Vanguard Prize and in 2010 was selected to participate in the Venice Biennale of Architecture. In 2009, he founded the Positive City Foundation to research urban phenomenon and is the founder of POPLAB (Prototypes of Prefabrication – Research Lab) a research laboratory at MIT.
