This home in Melbourne has been designed around the simple moments, experiences and rituals of everyday life. The owners, Luke and Meredith, approached Cliff Chang Architecture with images of design they love and want to emulate, with a common thread of light, stripped back interiors, simplicity and an honesty of materials.
The original home caused a lot of hassles with day-to-day living, so it was important that the new extension helped Luke and Meredith, not hinder. A habitable wall of joinery may be the best example of this, providing plenty of storage, but also space to have (and hide) appliances and have extra space to sit down when guests are over.
