Zaha Hadid (February 21, 1985)

Hadid discusses her influences from the early 20th century culture, especially Suprematism’s liberation from gravity. Hadid discusses architectural icons in New York that emerged from European modernism.

Hadid describes a series of her projects to date, from her student years at the Architectural Association until later on in her own practice.

Hadid describes the Peak competition project (1983), a Leisure Club located at a peak of a mountain overlooking the city of Hong Kong. She gives a detailed description of the site, program and formal qualities of the building that is excavated into the mountain.

Hadid presents earlier sketches of her Peak Leisure Club project as well as a traveling view perspective through drawings and illustrations of the building’s proposed spaces.
