Where is Everyday Life? – The Leftover – Mark Cousins (PART 9/10)

8th March 2013
Friday Lectures

Mark Cousins’ Friday lectures recommence by addressing the architectural and artistic use of the category ‘everyday life’ – a realm which seems immune to interpretation. The course seeks to show how the ‘everyday’ relates to the Cliché (the topic of last year’s lectures) and demonstrates that the phrase is imbued with philosophical presuppositions: it can mean the given, appearance or sometimes the concrete. ‘Everyday’ frequently involves the use of what the course represents as the ‘imaginary’. This lecture series will continue its investigation of architecture and design from both the point of view of the cliché and the imaginary.
