MIT Architecture | Fall 2020 Lecture Series
Join us Thursday, November 19, when we’ll host renowned Landscape Architect Walter Hood for the 26th Pietro Belluschi Lecture. Dayna Cunningham, Executive Director of MIT CoLab and SA+P students Xio Alvarez MArch, MCP candidate and Lizzie Yarina DUSP PhD candidate will join for an essential discussion on hybrid landscapes and community co-design.
Pietro Belluschi was trained as an architect and engineer and served as the Dean of the School of Architecture and Planning from 1951-65. Late in his life, Dean Belluschi and his family made a gift to MIT to establish an annual Belluschi lecture. The roster of these distinguished lecturers includes Eduardo Catalano, Alvaro Siza, Thom Mayne, Kazuyo Sejima, Peter Zumthor, Alejandro Aravena, Rafael Moneo, Elizabeth Diller, Jeanne Gang, and Francisco Aires Mateus.
Walter Hood
Walter Hood is the creative director and founder of Hood Design Studio in Oakland, CA. He is also a professor at the University of California, Berkeley, and lectures on professional and theoretical projects nationally and internationally. He is a recipient of the 2017 Academy of Arts and Letters Architecture Award, 2019 Knight Public Spaces Fellowship, 2019 MacArthur Fellowship, and 2019 Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize.
