Victor Burgin – Nietzsches Paris/The Time of the Image

A lecture by the artist and cultural theorist Victyor Burgin in conjunction with the AA exhibition of his new work Nietzsche’s Paris. Before introducing a series of fragments of his recent work in digital video, Burgin discusses his continuing preoccupations with physical and psychical space and with conceptions of time in relation to the image.

Burgin is Millard Professor of Fine Art at Goldsmiths, University of London, and Professor Emeritus of History of Consciousness at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He is the former Chair in Art and Architecture at The Cooper Union, New York, and has served as visiting professor and artist-in-residence in many countries. His media and conceptual art have been exhibited in museums and art galleries worldwide.

He is the author of many books including ‘The End of Art Theory: Criticism and Postmodernity’, ‘In/Different Spaces: Place and Memory in Visual Culture’, ‘Some Cities’ and ‘Shadowed’ published by the AA to accompany Nietzsches Paris.
