Urritjara — A dance performance on a salt lake in South Australia



Born and raised in Aputula (Finke) Community in Central Australia, actor and performer Derik Lynch gives us a gripping performance in ‘Urritjara’, which is also the term for ‘movement’ in Yankunytjatjara language — the language native to Lynch’s father’s family.

Filmed across Lake Bumbunga, a salt lake located in South Australia, Lynch reveals various forms and the space around him to the soaring sounds of Kalkani, a composition by vocalist, composer and didgeridoo virtuoso William Barton and improvising cross-genre violinist and composer Veronique Serret.
