A panel discussion among housing justice organizers focusing on the role of community organizing and political activism in planning, policy, and the fight for housing justice. Speakers include:
Karen Blondel is the founder and executive director of the Public Housing Civic Association and a Loeb Research Fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
Liz McGriff is a founder of the City Roots Community Land Trust in Rochester, which formed after the successful organized prevention of her eviction from her home by Take Back The Land. She is also an organizer with the City-Wide Tenant Union.
Robert Robinson is a professor at the New School Parsons School of Design, and a member of the Campaign to Restore National Housing Rights, the Take Back the Land national movement, and the U.S. Human Rights Network.
Cea Weaver is the Campaign Coordinator at Housing Justice For All, housing organizer with the Democratic Socialists of America, one-time nominee for the NYC City Planning Commission, and a prominent presence in all things NY housing.
The discussion will be moderated by Derek Brennan MSUP ’22.
