Toward a new paradigm panel discussion (October 27, 1999)

Karl Chu, Jeffrey Kipnis and the UN Studio founders Ben van Berkel and Caroline Bos discuss with moderator Michael Speaks the emerging trend toward algorithmic and diagrammatic design techniques. The panel argues that emergent properties, computation techniques, and information diagraming make it possible for architecture to free itself from representational figures, thus creating an architecture in line with a shifting society. After individual presentations from the panelists, the floor is opened up to a question and answer session, in which the group further describe the reasons for their viewpoints.
