Torkwase Dyson in conversation with Sumayya Vally, moderated by Natalia Grabowska

On 13 October 2021, artist Torkwase Dyson met with Sumayya Vally, architect of the 2021 Serpentine Pavilion, for a conversation moderated by curator Natalia Grabowska. Their conversation touches on space, forms of gathering, and non-traditional or under-recognised archives, including those made of sound and voice.

Torkwase Dyson’s sound work Breathtaking: On Black Beauty and Other Necessary Indeterminacies, was commissioned for the 2021 Pavilion as part of the Listening to the City programme. The work is now available on Serpentine Podcast as part of Sound Gallery, a series of sound commissions that invite us to listen actively.
