Reflective, ribbon-like rings form a border around the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic medals by Junichi Kawanishi, which are made from old electronic devices donated by the public.
With just one year to go until the 2020 Olympics begin, the Tokyo organising committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games have unveiled the designs for the winning athletes’ bronze, silver and gold medals and their cases.
As per tradition, the medals are fronted with Nike, the Greek goddess of victory, stood in front of the Panathinaikos Stadium.
The reverse side features a chiselled, choppy design around the outside of the medal, which encircles a raised, pebble-like centre engraved with the Tokyo 2020 emblem and the Olympic five rings symbol.
