Tucked down a small street in Carlton sits a red brick warehouse, which provided a base for five townhouses to sit within and above. DKO Architecture designed the new townhouses to contrast with the existing, with a modern perforated black box that appears to float above the warehouse.
The townhouse development has a strong emphasis on vertical living, with two bedrooms, a living/kitchen area and a roof deck spread over four levels. The experience of moving up and down through your home was especially important in these townhouses, so it was designed so that you enter into a dark area, but as you move up you are greeted with more light each level.
