In this episode, two self-proclaimed “animal knowledgers,” Musa and Jaxon, travel on the back of a bird to an island inhabited only by animals. There, they spot the golden eagle, uncover its secret egg, and race to protect it from a predator. Inspired by looking at Constantin Brancusi’s 1923 sculpture “Bird in Space,” their adventures are brought to life by animators Katarzyna Kijek and Przemysław Adamski.

“Once Upon an Artwork” is the award-winning animated series that uses works of art in MoMA’s collection as a jumping off point for children to imagine, play, seek adventure, and create worlds. We record kids looking at works of art and then an animator brings their unique vision and storytelling to life.
