“Call of the Heart is not only a call for help from the Arhuaco people to reclaim and protect their indigenous land, but also an acknowledgment of our responsibility to respond to the climate emergency at hand,” says director Harun Güler who, before filming, had to undergo a two-day meditation ceremony to align his energies and intentions with the Arhuaco spirits. “It was a significant experience to both participate in as well as witness, making clear to us the deep connection the Arhuaco people have to the mountains they live in, the universe, and how much we all rely on maintaining a healthy ecosystem.”
