The FAV Pavilion

Montpellier, France, 2016-04-19 –

The Pavilion is the starting point of the Festival des Architectures Vives. It aims at informing the visitors and guiding them in their journey. Ideally located in the heart of Montpellier, the Pavilion is a major place. The Pavilion has many purposes:

– Be the place of welcome and inform the public,
– Be the meeting point where to start the course, as its visibility is obvious,
– Link with past editions, in images and through the documentation of FAV’s books since 2006.

It also is the place where the public votes for the best installation,

Discover an architect of the region Languedoc-Roussillon Midi-Pyrénées, his design is every year realized by a young architect installed in region. So this year his realization was entrusted to Maurice SCHWAB

It will be open from Wednesday June 8rd, to Sunday June 19th, 2016, 9:00am-7:00pm.

The Montpellier FAV 2012 and 2013 pavilions are exhibited at the School of Architecture of the city.

Maurice Schwab is an architect graduated from “Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Montpellier” in 2015. He now wields from his natal city of Toulouse within the agency Schwab Conception Coordination which he created in his final year of studies.

He’s building a loud ambition of creating a both esthetics, financially and politically meaningful architecture within our perpetually changing urban environment.

Big ambition becomes reality within fruitful associations on different scale projects while he participates in major programs in the constraint sector of collective housing. In that way, every scale of the project is an entire subject to develop and promote an user friendly, poetic and effective design.

The project

Gate to…

Innovation is first supported by history, like a legacy to question us.

Here, innovation consists in getting closer to this heritage, observing in a particular way and extracting the essence of it.

Aggregating this knowledge creates an unprejudiced row shape.

Mix of knowledge and culture is spreading like the exchanges generated by the Festival: anyone comes, takes a look and leaves with some potential ideas and dreams.

The curious people plays with the initial shape and creates a gate, leaving the visitor free to make the choice of passing or not the innovation treshold.

Saint-CĂ´me’s peristyle gives a last feedback, contracting and crystalising the pavilion in bright colors and lights.
