Abkhazia, where patriots fought a civil war to secede from Georgia, is a little-known post-Soviet area in stasis. Newly married sports minister Rafael endeavors to host the World Domino Championship to bring international attention to his homeland. Meanwhile, his young, pregnant Russian wife feels unwelcome and unsure of her child’s future. The newlyweds’ romantic story provides a personal look into an area where larger political forces are at stake.
