The emergency temporary shelter kit was developed in response to the need for low cost, temporary refuge thats easily shipped and assembled. The shelter kit packs flat and can be shipped in large quantities all over the world on a moments notice. All of the parts can be manufactured from completely recycled materials. What makes it unique is that its quick and easy to set up requiring no tools or fasteners for assembly. Once assembled the kit achieves rigidity through gravity and simple architectural connections. Based upon the highly visible events including worldwide hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes and tsunamis, as well as war and genocide, the shelter kit can provide relief for a family from the elements in such disasters. The kit was designed for temperate climates but could be modified to provide relief in colder locations. The shelter, unlike tents or metal shacks, can be anchored off the earth to provide relief from ground elements. It is rigid and strong unlike a site-constructed fabric structure. Two people can assemble it without any tools or fasteners at a rapid pace and it has the potential for a relatively long lifespan depending upon the construction material. The kit is designed on a 4 feet by 8 feet module ensuring it could be made from any number of rigid materials. However, it could be manufactured from completely recycled materials ensuring in impoverished areas that the value of the shelter is only in providing relief from the elements and not as a series of parts. Ideally the walls would be made from compressed recycled plastic, the roof supports from plastic or metal scrap and the roof from recycled tarps. Considering the volume of peoples lives affected by displacement, the potential demand of such a product is massive.
