Search and Research: Panel on the opening of the exhibition The Other Architect

Search and Research explores the role of research and its different methodologies in a range of creative practices. The panel of architects, artists, designers, educators, and curators will discuss how their own methods of inquiry, search, and research intersect and diverge.

The event is held in conjunction with the opening of The Other Architect at the Arthur Ross Architecture Gallery. The exhibition is organized by the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) and curated by Giovanna Borasi.

Amale Andraos is the Dean of Columbia GSAPP and a Founding Principal at WORKac.

Kadambari Baxi is a professor of Professional Practice in Architecture at Barnard College. Her research practice revolves around new media and globalization.

Giovanna Borasi is Chief Curator at the Canadian Centre for Architecture and the organizer of the exhibition The Other Architect.

Matthew Buckingham is the chair of the visual arts program at the School of the Visual arts at Columbia University. Utilizing photography, film, video, audio, writing and drawing, his work questions the role that social memory plays in contemporary life.

Michael Meredith is a principal and co-founder, with Hilary Sample, of the New York architecture firm MOS. Their practice is characterized by a playful approach to research and independent exploration of materials and methods.

Susan Sellers is a Founding Partner of 2×4 and was Head of Design at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She uses design as inquiry to create evocative, informative, and immersive experiences, bridging commercial and cultural realms.

Nader Tehrani is the Dean of the School of Architecture at The Cooper Union and principal at the Boston-based architecture firm NADAAA, where design is driven by the search for new forms of knowledge in the performance of buildings.
