Richard Murphy: Selected Projects

Richard Murphy: Selected Projects
Richard Murphy, Director, Richard Murphy Architects

Richard Murphy founded the Practice of Richard Murphy Architects in 1991 which has since won 22 RIBA Awards, more than any other Scottish Practice.

Richard was educated at Newcastle and Edinburgh Universities and for four years taught at Edinburgh University and researched the work of the Venetian Architect, Carlo Scarpa, at the Castelvecchio. He has since written the definitive book on the building. A new and massively expanded version of the original Castelvecchio book, “Carlo Scarpa and Castelvecchio Revisited” was published in October 2017 by Breakfast Mission Publishing.

In 2015 Richard moved into a new house which he designed for himself in the Edinburgh New Town World Heritage Site. It was given an RIBA National Award and won the RIBA/Channel 4 House of the Year Award 2016.
