RIBAJ Rising Star 2019: Joanna Asia Grzybowska

Selected from a longlist of 25, Joanna Asia Grzybowska is one of nine emerging architects making up this year’s RIBAJ Rising Star cohort, in collaboration with Origin.

Joanna has ploughed her own furrow in the architecture industry, becoming an activist for differently-abled people. It was this that compelled the judges to name her among the RIBA Journal’s Rising Stars 2019. She currently works as associate at Powell Tuck Associates, is the founder of the art collective Sisters and Tiger and is also the director of Mycelium Studio. Her holistic approach in the industry connects women in construction with contractors and designers with vulnerable end users.

In this video, Joanna talks about Mycelium Studio, how she got into designing for differently-abled people and what she would most like to redesign.
