reSITE Small Talk with Gilly Karjevsky

Gilly Karjevsky is a Berlin-based independent artist and curator. She is the Co-director of ‘72 Hour Urban Action’ – the international real-time architecture competition since 2010, with most recent projects in Germany, Denmark, Italy and Turkey. We met her in an abandoned wasteland in Prague, to talk about her project-based, cross-disciplinary and collaborative work, with a focus on projects which test artistic media in public institutions and public space like Just Add People. She aims to facilitate the integration of artists into processes of urban design and urban planning.

AP was presented at resite2017 and is a collaboration between Kerem Halbrecht, Gilly Karjevsky (co-directors, 72 Hour Urban Action) and Jennifer Aksu, Anna Hentschel, and Sebastian Quack (Invisible Playground), expanding on the discipline of Gameful Architecture.

reSITE is an international nonprofit platform based in Prague. We work at the intersection of architecture, urbanism, politics, culture, and economics. We act as a catalyst for social action and innovative leadership.

We encourage an exchange of ideas about making cities more livable, competitive and resilient. We protect and promote public space, architecture, and sustainable development in cities.

Why? To stimulate action for sustainable urban design and therefore better cities. We stand for public space.
