We are saddened to hear of the passing of writer Shahrnush Parsipur (1946–2026), author of the cult novel ‘Women Without Men.’
Parsipur is considered one of Iran’s most important writers and has on several occasions faced imprisonment for her straightforward depiction of Iranian women.
We met Parsipur in 2019 for an open conversation about being a female writer in Iran, about the rich and poor, and the writer’s role in society.
