In this video I walk you through a fast, sketchy, painterly technique for creating a basic rendered site plan. I use this for quickly representing schematic site layouts for clients.
The workflow is:
1) Export linework from CAD
2) Overlay linework on your titleblock of choice
3) Create the sketchy base layer (I used colored fur for mine)
4) Invert linework (as necessary)
5) Select areas to receive color “washes”
6) Apply color adjustment layers and fine tune opacity for desired effect.
7) Layer on text, arrows, north arrow, additional information.
8) Select area for vignette effect, feather selection by 100 pixels
9) Invert selection, add “Levels” adjustment layer and tweak to suit your visual taste. (NOTE: this can also be done with a gradient, I just find the levels method to be more precise and easier to change.)
Good luck…let me know if you have any questions.
