Tim Lawrence discusses music, art, and film in 1980s downtown New York with “Queen of The Downtown Screen” Patti Astor, recording artist/DJ Johnny Dynell, musician/impresario Michael Holman, writer and filmmaker, Glenn O’Brien, artist and hip-hop pioneer Fab Five Freddy, and performer Ann Magnuson.
This event serves as a preview of MoMA’s Fall 2017 exhibition about Manhattan’s famed Club 57 (1978–83), and is presented along-side an onsite film screening of “Downtown 81,” a feature-length portrait of the Lower East Side’s “fractured art and music” scene.
