The Contemporary Art Galleries Association (AGAC)
April 25 – 27, 2014
Montreal, Canada, 2014-04-15 –
Papier, an art fair unlike any other
As the spring arrives, the elegant marquee tent of the Papier14 art fair will be installed in a few weeks at the heart of the Quartier des spectacles, at the corner of St-Catherine and Clark Street. This new location will enable the fair to grow in scope and welcome over 12 000 visitors in a period of three days.
Dedicated exclusively to the promotion of art on paper, Papier14 is the most important fair of its kind in North America. The event is a key catalyst for the Canadian contemporary art market and constitutes a unique meeting ground for the greater public, art enthusiasts and professionals alike. For its seventh edition, Papier is preparing to attract a larger number of Canadian galleries and collectors, thus demonstrating the liveliness of the city as a major center for contemporary art. National Bank Private Wealth 1859, presenting partner of Papier14
For its 3rd consecutive year, AGAC is pleased to associate itself with National Bank Private Wealth 1859 as presenting partner. Through this privileged partnership, Papier14 will showcase artists with the aim of promoting the access to contemporary art to a broader audience. An important rendezvous, the VIP Opening & Benefit Evening
This glamorous evening offers exclusive access to a preview of the hundreds of works presented at the fair. The only fundraising event of the Association, the VIP Opening Evening will be held Thursday, April 24 at 6 pm. In the company of and Alexandre Taillefer, patron of the fair, and Karine Vanasse, spokesperson of the fair, patrons, philanthropists and collectors will enjoy this festive evening while providing an essential support to the Association. This fundraising event allows AGAC to pursue its initiatives, which focus on the dissemination and promotion of Canadian contemporary art practices.
The public opening of the fair will meanwhile take place on Friday, April 25 at 6 pm (free admission). The public is cordially invited.
An extensive programming and activities for allUnder the marquee tent, daily guided tours and talks will be offered for free to visitors. The talks will bring together professionals in the field and discuss issues related to contemporary art and the medium of paper. Guided tours will propose different thematic routes through the fair: it is in the mode of sharing and reflection that visitors are invited to discover new artistic practices. This seventh edition is also expanding beyond the marquee tent offering for the first time a variety of outdoor exhibits and satellite activities. Among the exhibitions, National Bank Private Wealth 1859 will present the exhibition Papier, une pièce de collection, at the Maison du développement durable. Exhibitors
