Nendo designs emergency portable battery that you charge by hand

Japanese studio Nendo has designed a mobile battery that users can charge via a swinging hand generator, to power-up their smartphone in case of emergencies.

The minimal, stick-like portable charger, called Denqul, was designed for use in disasters, to ensure users have a secure power supply for their smartphones to provide them with access to basic needs such as communication and lighting.

While the battery can be charged from a plug-in dock at the user’s home before leaving the house, it can also be charged via a hand crank should it run low when the user is out and about.
