MSSI Oration – Climate Justice After Paris

On Tuesday 15 March, Mary Robinson visited the University of Melbourne to deliver the inaugural oration for the Melbourne Sustainable Society Institute. She addressed the growing role of climate justice in climate talks and in bringing the Paris Agreement into force.

The 2015 Paris Climate Conference is widely recognized as a key milestone in the global response to climate change; its impacts and solutions. As President of the Mary Robinson Foundation – Climate Justice and the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Climate Change Mary Robinson played an important role in the Paris climate conference process.

Mary Robinson was also the President of the International Commission of Jurists and chair of the Council of Women World Leaders. She served as Honorary President of Oxfam International from 2002-2012. She is the recipient of numerous honours including the Presidential Medal of Freedom from the President of the United States, Barack Obama.
