LIKEarchitects is an Oporto based architecture studio known for its experimental, provocative and innovative nature. Their partners, Diogo Aguiar, João Jesus, and Teresa Otto, have based their practice on the fundamental architectural knowledge that they acquired at the School of Architecture of the University of Oporto, as well as their experiences at internationally renowned architectural firms.
This emerging practice strives to create architecture that is not only sensitive to the current socio-economic climate, but also aims to augment spatial experiences, as well as engage the community in critical discourse. Using installation, urban art and spontaneous happenings as their primary medium, LIKEarchitects have activated the urban setting whilst engaging the community in a critical architectural dialogue.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
About TEDx
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
