Mies van der Rohe's Villa Tugendhat in Context

‘The Villa Tugendhat in Context’ is an exhibition from the RIBA celebrating the completion of the two-year restoration of Mies van der Rohe’s hidden gem. Narrated by exhibition curator Dr Irena Murray, the video gives a brief insight into the history of the Villa Tugendhat and the skill of Mies in creating bright, modern spaces for living that is encapsulated in this small masterpiece in Brno.

The exhibition is accompanied by a talk with the architects, historians and curators who took part in the recently completed restoration (£8.50/£5.50 RIBA Members, DoCoMoMo members and students). A free student seminar will also take place, where students can join exhibition curators for a guided tour of the exhibition. Both take place on 3 July 2012 and advance booking is essential.

Exhibition dates: 19 June – 24 August 2012 (new extended dates)
Venue: British Architectural Library, Royal Institute of British Architects, 66 Portland Place, London, W1B 1AD
Admission: Free (please bring photographic I.D. for entry into the Library)
