Martin Boyce | Turner Prize Winner 2011 | TateShots

Turner Prize nominee Martin Boyce’s work explores the visual language of modernist architecture and design. Classic pieces of furniture by Arne Jacobsen, Charles and Ray Eames, and Jean ProuvĂ© among others, have often been the focus of Boyce’s sculptural installations, which he has described as ‘a peculiar landscape’.

For the Turner Prize exhibition 2011, Boyce took as his inspiration four concrete ‘trees’, designed in 1925 by avant-garde sculptors JoĂ«l and Jan Martel.
