Martha Schwartz is Professor in Practice of Landscape Architecture. Her practice, Martha Schwartz Partners, is based in London and specializes in landscape architecture and urban design. Founder of the Working Group on Sustainable Cities at Harvard University, Schwartz is a spokesperson for the role of the urban landscape in sustainability.
Recent projects include the Abu Dhabi Financial Center, the Vanke Headquarters in Shenzhen, China, the 9 Elms development in London, and a permanent art installation for the Xi’an International Horticultural Exposition 2011. Her newest book, Recycling Spaces, edited by Emily Waugh, uses the work of the practice to illustrate the multi-valent role urban landscapes play in the creation of healthy cities.
