Mark Cousins – The Ugly: What Is Not There and Should Be – Part 4

Lecture date: 2006-12-01

This series elaborates The Ugly as a subjective response to certain objects, and analyses the defences of the subject to The Ugly. It also considers representations which exercise an ambivalence in the subject where horror and fascination are combined equally. In pursuit of an understanding of this, the lectures contain references to religion, neurosis and aspects of spatiality.
