Lacrimosa

The Los-Angeles Master Chorale—one of the resident companies of the Walt Disney Concert Hall—soundtrack this darkly tense and allusive film from Belgian director Arnaud Uyttenhove. Underpinning it all is the choir’s rendition of Mozart’s Requiem in D Minor—a fittingly sombre work which lends immense gravity to this tensely unfolding story set amid the landscape of night-time LA. In the director’s simmering narrative, a young man—whose past is marred by an unspoken trauma—lives on the cusp of a great tragedy, where the voices and presences of the choir members connect each the film’s participants in a tensely tightening web.
