Jurg Conzett – Structures – A Personal View of Engineering

Lecture date: 2000-02-08

In a lecture given to coincide with the opening of an AA exhibition of his work, the Swiss engineer Jurg Conzett discusses the relationship between landscape and engineering, comparing traditional building methods with his own particular approach to hybrid constructions. The elegance of his structural solutions is particularly striking in his many bridge projects. Since completing his studies at the ETH in Zurich in 1980, Conzett has collaborated on a range of projects from small houses to large schools and office blocks. He works in partnership with Gianfranco Bronzini and Patrick Gartmann.

NB: For the first 5 minutes of the lecture the projected diagrams are not visible. Subsequent drawings are also difficult to see.
