Jesse Reiser (March 20, 2002)

Jesse Reiser begins by discussing language, form, shape, and order. He presents his BMW distribution factory, stressing efficiency, siting, and structural tectonics.

He discusses a proposal for a children’s museum in Pittsburgh, stressing the existing site conditions exploited in his design. Reiser characterizes his structural goal as defining and creating transparency.

Reiser discusses several house designs in which he rethought the typical programmatic strategies. He emphasizes structure as an important design technique, as well as, how material densities emerge into building materiality.

The video ends before the end of the lecture.
