Interview: Hotel Sanders Copenhagen by Lind + Almond | Interiors | Dezeen

Interiors duo Lind + Almond describes its cosy design for Hotel Sanders Copenhagen in this movie Dezeen produced for the AHEAD hospitality awards.

Hotel Sanders, which opened last November in Copenhagen’s historic centre, won the Hotel of the Year and Renovation & Restoration categories at the AHEAD Europe awards, held at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge hotel in London on Monday.

Lind + Almond, a duo comprised of Danish interior designer Pernille Lind and British architect Richy Almond, overhauled a decrepit 90-room three-star hotel in Copenhagen’s historic quarter to create the 54-room Hotel Sanders.

“The site was in a state of serious disrepair” says Almond in the video, which was shot by Dezeen at Lind + Almond’s studio in West London. “We went in and took everything out except for the walls.”

According to the duo, the hotel was designed to inspire feelings of comfort and nostalgia in its guests.

“Sanders is a home away from home,” explains Lind. “We wanted the customer to feel extremely relaxed, but also to see details that reference many different eras.”
