How we Cheated the City of Copenhagen: Martin Rein-Cano | reSITE 2016

There is a crisis of the private space. And that gives a big chance to the public space. The private space is not protected any more, it’s vulnerable – because of communication, of control, we can’t hide our private activities any more like we used to. That’s why we don’t need a private space that much as before but we can start to re-think how we use the public space.

Martin Rein-Cano, director of Topotek 1 and designer of the award-winning Superkilen Park in Copenhagen, in discussion with the editor in chief of World Architecture Community Berrin Chatzi Chousein at reSITE 2016: Cities in Migration.

reSITE is an international nonprofit platform based in Prague. We work at the intersection of architecture, urbanism, politics, culture, and economics. We act as a catalyst for social action and innovative leadership.

We encourage an exchange of ideas about making cities more livable, competitive and resilient. We protect and promote public space, architecture, and sustainable development in cities.

Why? To stimulate action for sustainable urban design and therefore better cities. We stand for public space.
