How to Make a Drag Gesture in Adobe XD | Adobe Creative Cloud

Design a swipe interaction.

Start from scratch, or download practice files [https://adobe.ly/2IzjJCQ] for a head start. Steps below.

Prep your project:

1. Open an .xd document, or use ours (make-drag-gesture_start.xd).
2. Duplicate the artboard: Hold the option (macOS), Alt (Windows), key as you drag the title of the iPhone artboard to create a duplicate.

Scale the images on the 2nd artboard:

1. Double-click the photo at the far left in the carousel on the new artboard. Change the width and height to make it smaller. Drag it left of the artboard on to the canvas.
2. Move each of the images to the left and resize. Here’s a suggested order:

– 1st image: 100px, left of the artboard
– 2nd image: 160px, partially on the artboard (left side)
– 3rd image: 240px, centered on the artboard
– 4th image: 160px, partially on the artboard (right side)

Tip: The images are grouped with other elements, so it may be easier to expand the Group name in the Layers panel (View – Layers) and select the image directly.

3. Change the image label: In the Layers panel, drag the No Lines text object from Group 1 to Group 2. Change the text.

Wire the prototype interaction:

1. Click Prototype at the top to enter prototype mode.
2. Double-click to select the center image on the 1st artboard.
3. Drag a wire to the 2nd artboard.
4. Choose Drag as the Trigger.
5. Select the center image on the 2nd artboard. Drag a wire back to the 1st artboard. Adobe XD remembers the settings.

Test the interaction:

1. Click Desktop Preview (the Play icon) at the top right.
2. Click and drag the center image to test the carousel. Notice the images move and scale into view and the label below the center image changes.

That’s it!
