Tom with Satori Graphics back with another graphic design tips video. Today I have something different where we look at how important a graphic design degree is, or isn’t, and set against the importance of a graphic design portfolio.
It is obvious to those graphic designers who have been within the industry long enough that a university degree course cannot teach you everything that you will need to know, and many will say, like myself, that it cannot teach even half of what you need to know to become a competent graphic designer. So is a graphic design degree worth it at all? How crucial is it in comparison to a graphic design portfolio? Lets discuss this matter in this video on graphic design as a career 🙂 This is not so much of a graphic design upload where I aim to teach or provide information, but more a video where I open up a topic for discussion based around the graphic design industry.
So what do you feel about this topic, do you feel it is absolutley essential to have a degree from a college or university to get into a career based graphic design, or do you feel that it is not only possible but fairly easy to get far as a graphic designer without that piece of paper from university / college?
