Five Days of Darkness

To mark the annual occasion of World Goth Day (which emerges
out of the dewy spring ground like a field of narcissi on 22 May),
we’ve designed five days of dark and seditious programming that
sheds light on this greatly cherished, though oft-misunderstood
subculture. Now, we say, is the perfect time for goth—which first
emerged in late 70s Britain and has since scattered across the world as a sensibility that encourages considered dissent, non-
binary inclusion, personal expression, arch camp, and creativity from the margins—to rise triumphant.
