Emilio Ambasz, born in 1943 in Argentina, also a Spanish citizen by Royal Grant, studied at Princeton University. He completed the undergraduate program in one year and earned, the next year, a Master’s Degree in Architecture from the same institution where he taught as Philip Freneau Professor of Architecture. He served as Curator of Design at the Museum of Modern Art, in New York (1969-76), He is an Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects; an Honorary International Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects, and a Commendatore (Commander) of the Italian Republic. In 2014 he was awarded the Medal of Science, the highest honor bestowed by the Institute for Advanced Studies of the University of Bologna.

Acknowledged as a precursor of Green Architecture he is the recipient of numerous architectural industrial and graphic design awards as well as comprehensive one-man shows at, among others, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, La Triennale di Milano, The Arts Institute of Chicago, The Museum of Contemporary Art Reina Sofia-Madrid; Le Centre Canadien d’Architecture, and the Tokyo Gallery of Contemporary Art.
