Docu-Dramas: KOSMOS

Docu-dramas presents contemporary architects talking about their work, through the kinds of images they would normally exclude from a lecture: ordinary documents like contracts, budgets, estimates, SMS and chat messages, research and administrative files. Narrated, these dull objects can become evidence for the complex and contingent reality of architectural practice embedded in a messy world.

KOSMOS Architects was founded by Artem Kitaev, Leonid Slonimsky, and Nikolay Martynov in 2012 as a virtual office somewhere between Moscow, Basel, Bangkok, and New York. They have worked at the scale of door-knobs and temporary and permanent pavilions, airport lounges and airports, and their research interests include the history of Kazimir Malevich’s grave, the architecture of scaffolding, public space regulations, unconventional materials, and the relation between architecture and alcohol.
