On January 12, 2016, the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the University of Toronto welcomed Wolfgang Lorch to present a bulthaup lecture.

“Contexts” was chosen as a programmatic title describing both the parameters and the essence of Wandel Lorch Architekten architecture forming the “basso continuo”. The lecture won’t be only a theoretical approach to this theme, it will be a presentation of their work with the help of realised projects.

Wolfgang Lorch (b. 1960) studied at Darmstadt Technical University and ETSA Barcelona. In 1993 he founded the office “Wandel Lorch Architekten” based in Saarbrücken and Frankfurt. Between 2001 and 2003 he was Chair and taught at “Staatsbauschule Stuttgart”. Since 2003 he is the Chair of Experimental Design at Darmstadt Technical University. The focus of his work is sacral buildings as well as scenographic and memorial architecture. For his work he has received numerous architecture awards and his view has not only influenced the specialist journals but also the popular discussion of architecture.

The Daniels Faculty would like to thank bulthaup Toronto for its generous sponsorship of this lecture: www.toronto.bulthaup.com
